MANAGEMENT TEAM

The Management Team and Board of Directors, of ADVEC Power System (APS), are central to the success of the Company and consists of seasoned industry executives and accomplished technical professionals. 

The following are key members of the APS management team: 

Mr. Daniel S. Pappas, President and CEO

Mr. Pappas founded ADVEC Corporation in 1989, and as its President and CEO led the corporation's work in advanced energy technologies. He has over 30 years of executive experience in high-technology business and program activities; formation of start-up and spin-off companies, attracting and acquiring top-level management, scientific, and technical staff; strategic planning; business development; business plans; marketing to secure funds from private and governmental sources; and sales and marketing for laser and reactor systems. Mr. Pappas received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Physics from UCLA and holds several energy-related patents.

Dr. Arnold Pachtman, Executive Vice President

Dr. Pachtman is a business executive with two decades of experience in strategic marketing, nuclear power plant engineering, Lean Six Sigma, project management, corporate finance, and international business. Dr. Pachtman was a Senior Manager at Raytheon, where he led numerous projects and initiatives in Lean Six Sigma, new business development, strategic marketing, new product development, and intellectual property development. He was also founding CFO of NetPlexus, an Internet security startup. Prior to NetPlexus, Dr. Pachtman was Project Engineer at Ebasco-CTCI Corp., where he worked on nuclear power plant engineering and licensing. Dr. Pachtman's areas of expertise include troubled program turnaround; creative problem solving and process improvement; "tiger team" leadership; public relations and written communication; and bridging the engineering, finance, and marketing silos. Dr. Pachtman is a Past Director of the MIT Club of Washington and MIT Enterprise Forum of Washington-Baltimore. He has over 100 publications, and is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, and Chinese. He holds the Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from MIT, an MBA with honors from the University of Texas at Austin, and is an ASQ-Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.

Mr. Daniel B. Dexter, Senior Vice President

Mr. Dexter is a seasoned executive with three decades of International Power Management experience. Mr. Dexter has served as Group Vice President, Global Power for TAQA New World, the independent power subsidiary of TAQA (Abu Dhabi National Energy Company), where he held full responsibility for the independent power and water operations worldwide. He has also held the position of Executive Managing Director, International Operations for CMSG, the power subsidiary of CMS Energy, with over 10,000 Mw's in its asset portfolio. He has had full P & L responsibility for businesses located in the Middle East, Africa and India plus managed the corporate engineering, construction and plant support groups, both supporting all domestic and international assets. He has had plant construction, commissioning and technical issues resolution for plants in the U.A.E., Asia, and North and South America. He also has held management positions in the areas of finance, labor unions, third party contracting, power purchase negotiating, and team building. Mr. Dexter holds an M.B.A. in Utility/Regulatory Economics, a B.S. in Computer Science and an A.S. in Electrical/Electronic Technology. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and the ISA and served in the United States Navy.

Mr. James Byrd, Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Byrd received his B.A. from the University of New Mexico in Business Management. He has over 20 years of executive experience in the financial industry. He formerly had his own business for six years; Mr. Byrd understands firsthand the challenges and opportunities business owners face. Jim's career has provided him the opportunity to work with many companies that revenues varied from $2.5 Million to $20 Million to help grow their business. Mr. Byrd has served as Vice President of Business Development of Bank of America. He is also on the Board of Directors of the New Mexico Community Development Loan Fund, and member of the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce, Risk Management Association, New Mexico Mortgage Brokers Association, New Mexico Mortgage Bankers Association, and Independent Insurance Agents of New Mexico.

Mr. Ernest W. Culver, Director of Marketing

Mr. Culver has 40 years of technical and marketing experience. He retired from Hughes Aircraft Company - Raytheon with the last 21 years in Corporate Marketing. Mr. Culver was credited with being instrumental in the capturing of $4.5 Billion of contracts while at Hughes. Since retiring from Raytheon, he has consulted with Sandia National Laboratory and was Vice President of Marketing for Didactics Corporation. Mr. Culver graduated from the University of Illinois, where he has served on the Institute of Aviation's National Advisory Council for 15 years and was its Chair for 12 years. He has served on the University of Illinois' College of Engineering Board. While at Hughes Aircraft Company, Mr. Culver graduated from the Hughes Executive Management Program.

Dr. George W. York, Manager of Reactor Technology Development

Dr. York has led major nuclear laser development projects having defense and commercial applications. He received his PhD in Physics from the University of Missouri.

Mr. Kenneth M. Chidester, Fuel Technology Manager

Mr. Chidester has more than 35 years of experience in the nuclear power and nuclear fuels industry. He is internationally known for his expertise in reactor development, metallurgy, fuel materials, and fuel fabrication.
